Indigo by Stephen Farris

Another amazing distorted VHS fizzy fuzz love journey crafted by Stephen Harris. Posting "Indigo" because it's more accessible but for the advanced heads I highly recommend the 3rd track "Witch Jazz". In the ever expanding cosm of beats and beat making Stephen is emerging quickly with a promising sound... One clever fella.

Pandit - Artichoke

Pandit is Austin, TX based musician Lance Smith’s moniker. His first single release off the Waaga Records label begins as a hard hitting beat but then softens as a wash of reverberating guitars swells over and is further softened by the following echoey vocals. There are hints of Washed Out, Toro Y Moi, Beach House, and other current indie darlings of the moment here obviously but none the less Lance’s production still shines bright. Keep an eye out for the eventual release of “Eternity Spin” which drops in February.

Dug up this little unreleased gem by Dimlite during some recent travels. If we could only get a glimpse of what's going on inside this dude's head.. haha.. prolly see something really tripped out. Anywho, always great to come across anything new from this artist. Speaking of.. his new album "My Human Wears Acedia Shreads" (just the titles alone do it for me) comes out next year on Stones Throw. They just dropped a new podcast by him that can be downloaded here.

Arpline remixes Local Natives

What happens when one of your favorite bands remixes another - bliss for one's ears. Arpline got a hold of Local Natives Wide Eyes and put their little twist on it.

If you are unfamiliar with either band, get familiar. Local Natives and Arpline.

The Walkmen

Before you get to get good at that thing you do, you gotta figure out what that thing is. Then when you know what the thing you do is, and get good at that thing you do, you can do that thing you do so good that the thing is something only you do and nobody else does it and everybody else has to take a hard look around and think about what it means to do something like that.

The Walkmen take America’s love for tossed-off brilliance and invert it into something deliberate and ragged. Their new album Lisbon is swagger and slur.

Maximum Balloon

Maximum Balloon is the new collaborative project from Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio (and producer for Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Aku handles the vocals on "Tiger"—an electric stomp punctuated by chicken-scratch guitars and horn bursts.

The forthcoming full-length features Tunde and Kyp from TVotR, Karen O, Little Dragon, and David Byrne. Visit the site or the myspace to hear another track w/ Theophiliius London.

Slow it down

I think many people were surprised to hear this. Justin Bieber slowed down 800% to the point of angelic beauty. Now I'm not a big Bieber fan, we have one on the YYY staff but they shall remain nameless. A musician by the name of Shamantis posted this yesterday and it's been trailblazing the interwebs landing on everyone's twitter, facebook, and favorite social apparatus du jour. Oh, and yes, that is a image of Bieber stretched 300%. It's not working nearly as well as the track. A fair warning in advance, this track is a good 20 mins long due to the time stretch. Shamantis, btw, kudos for even thinking about doing this. You deserve some well deserved credit.

ceo - White Magic

Gets me feeling like a dandy with a danger streak—an impeccably dressed explorer with a canteen for tomorrow, a knife for today, and smart shoes dancing unstuck in time. Ceo is the solo project from Eric Berglund, one half of the Tough Alliance. The new album, White Magic, is precisely packed with warm electronics, swooning melodies, orchestral strings, and big Swedish hooks.

Tame Impala

Melodic psych-rock with some oomph and a determined groove. This stuff is fuzzed out and on fire, far-out and locked-in. Drum-fills careen into bursting chords of dirty pretty effortless winning. And the singer sounds like John Lennon, which seems like something to mention?

Tame Impala
are a four piece from Perth, and their debut album InnerSpeaker is a 12-way tie for yes, please.

heRobust - Grief Case

YYY crew has been swooning over the beats of Alanta based Hayden Kramer, aka HeRobust. His freaked out version of electronica and hip-hop is addictive to say the least. I especially love the moments when he mixes in some sugary sweet RnB. I predict we will be hearing some really big things from this artist in the future.
