Ifan Dafydd

"This shit right here... make you wear sunny's at night no glare" Incredible music. It's been a while since I the a song made the hairs on my arm stand up. Pause. Ifan Dafydd once thought to be an alias of Jame Blake is said to be his friend and possibly even a former roomate of his. Sure you can hear similarities to Blake but it stands on it's own well. The 12" is sold out everywhere but you download it here.

D.A. and the Supa Dups

D.A. of Chester French sent me a track via Spotify of a new track that he made with a new group he is in called D.A. & the Supa Dups. I was floored at how fresh but familiar it sounded. I can't wait to hear a Full Length effort from these guys but for now head on over to their site for a free 7"!

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Thought Ballune

Unknown Mortal Orchestra is a New Zealand fronted PDX psycherock band that popped up on my radar last year via their band camp page. The band seems to have hit its stride and released a full length album this summer that is totally worth a purchase. Actually, they are touring the US as we speak so you could even catch them live. I personally am smitten with them. Their sound is a perfect blend of prog, kraut, psyche, and pop with that lo-fi tinge that keeps it from getting to polished. Take a gander at their site to get more info.

I make music, software and visual work under the alias Samoyed. Mast is a collaboration with the artist Samuel Playford-Greenwell. All musical output is improvised, recorded live and produced using my self-designed software and interfaces.

Samoyed and Mast are founding members of the Scottish music and design collective and record label flask. We are a group of musicians, product designers, illustrators, architects and artists, and we aim to restore value to physical musical formats in the age of download culture by making beautiful, precious objects. We batch-produce limited edition screenprinted CDs, USB albums, books and posters.

Samoyed is set to release his Spit EP on Oct 17th. Cop it!

Xavier Arocha

One half of Sibian & Faun, Xavier Arocha possesses a quality in his production that many people just don't have. A subtle approach . . . refined, progressive. He dropped a note by the other day and let use know about this new single he just dropped. I strongly suggest you turn whatever speaker you have around you up a tad and just sit back in the warm glow created by "Bound by Earth." Seems like Xavier has been accepted into the prestigious RBMA - I can only assume you will be hearing more from him in the future.

More on Sibian & Faun here - and an older track we posted can be found here. If you haven't heard S+F's track "numbers" - you are fucking sleeping at the wheel!

Watch these guys . . .

Absofacto - Synthesocietal

Absofacto’s Synthesocietal sounds like someone playing indie rock in your room while you were trying to play Metroid. The synthy bass line that runs throughout most of the songs that seems to hypnotize me. Vocals range from droning during the chorus to a bit more aggressive during the chorus as the harder guitar riffs pound in. The rest of the album, Sinking Islands, also is very impressive with artwork by Silent Giants.

CLU

I admit, Williow Smith's hit single Whip My Hair was and is a guilty pleasure of a song. Every now and again a song comes along that is so infectious that you're helpless against it! Thank goodness Clu created a tricked out, wonky, deconstruted version of the track that I can feel better about playing obsessively. You can listen to this and a couple more spaced tracks from their upcoming release over at their Soundcloud page.

Memory Tapes ( Jensen Sportag Remix )

I really feel like Jensen Sportag is going to be that group that I'll say "I told you so" about, but then I'll look like that dude who's trying to come off like they are chest beating and trying to force or impart that they "might" be on top of something. But for real. I told you so. These guys continually make me put songs on repeat and make me want to drive a badass sportscar down the PCH with the roof rolled down, and this music on full tilt. This is offical summer time music. You have been officially notified.
