Bosco Delrey- Everybody Wah Out

Bosco spent the past summer in Memphis, TN recording the 13 tracks with Doug Easley at his acclaimed studio whose alumni include the White Stripes, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Wilco, and Cat Power.Bosco's sound references the sounds of Sun Studios-era recordings, updating the lo-fi guitar twang with the use of an MPC drum machine and vintage synthesizer emulators to create a wall of distorted dance/grunge, with other apparent influences ranging from southern rap to church hymns and dancehall. Every track on the record brings together new ideas and influences  making "Everybody Wah" an entirely refreshing entry into the current music scene.

"Outside The Box" is taken from the album "It's The Trip" by 40 Winks on Project: Mooncircle.

It's The Trip
"Join 40 Winks on a road trip to anywhere. Bring your music player and tell your honey you won't be home for dinner. It's the trip, not the destination."

About 40 Winks:
No hay banda! ("there is no band", Mulholland Dr. 2001) pretty much sums up where 40 Winks aims to go with its instrumental hip hop: meticulously chop and paste samples together, to create an atmosphere of beats and vibes which steps beyond unimaginative loops. 40 Winks hit the scene in 2002, with a whole slew of laidback beats. Eager to share their sound with the world, they released a couple of albums independently. The attention they got from this, allowed them to build with people from around the world. One of these independently released albums, More Than Loops, got reissued in Japan on Swamp Records, after that the ball kept rolling. On their first worldwide release, Extended Pleasure on Escapism Records (2005), they reached listeners well beyond the (instrumental) hip hop community with the song "Melancholia". After appearances on compilations, like Weapons Of Hope on Little-D (2006), they got a chance to do their thing on the renowned label, Merck Records with Sound Puzzle (2007). All this led them back to Europe, where the German based Project: Mooncircle welcomed them with a spot on the compilation Heart On The Right Spot (2007) and a full album The Lucid Effect (2008). In 2009 they took some time off, doing solo stuff and remixes. In 2011 40 Winks is back with a double LP called It's The Trip (2011) on Project: Mooncircle.

Egyptrixx

This album has been on nearly constant rotation over here lately.

Check out the buy link for all of his stuff up on Digital Tunes. The rest of his tunes have a different flavor, but never consistently the same.

There's a heap of electro style with bits of soul from a distant past that lived in red and black metallic hues.

Bela Tar

Not to be confused with the Bulgarian filmmaker Bela Tarr. I stumbled upon this Israeli band through ISO50 and the ever potent ear of Jakub ( thank you Jakub btw ) This album ( if in the proper mood ) is full of gooey, mellow, sublimness. I've done some digging and it seems as though Bel Tar are relatively unknown. Which means you've GOT to support them and this release they have on Bandcamp. Just Gorgeous. Melodies Abound.

Some photos of this elusive band can be found on this Flickr stream. Additionally, some nice stuff.

Mar Variations - 2u4u

The talented Mar has been running Mar Variations with the help of a bunch of talented individuals in AMST. He just completed a wonderful new track laid over something Dilla had dreamed up. It's a really beautiful combination. Mar - keep it up . . .

Tommy Guerrero

There are very few artists who have managed to string together as many consecutive solid releases as Tommy Guerrero. Every album he's released has been damn good and more rare every song. How many artists, musicians or otherwise, can you say that about? Tommy G. released his new album 'Lifeboats and Follies'  yesterday and this release follows every other album. Great, highly instrumental, interestingly arranged laid back Californian style vibe.

Jon Lemmon

I don't know how or when I came across this nice little FreE.P. but I know last night shuffle was treating me kindly. When this came on I stopped working just long enough to see who was delivering tsuch sweet late night fuel. The extended play is a welcome mix of ambient electronics and muddled mummbling vocals that seem to be added in many cases as added overlapping texture.
