Mansions of the Moon

Mansions on the Moon releases another song off their anticipated The Lightyears EP, an album that’s been in the works for 2+ years.  They've been periodically releasing tracks for download, and will continue this until the album drops. Pharrell  Williams is the executive producer, so expect this album to be really fucking good.  My favorite of their downloads is “Athens”,  it's smooth like butter, catchy, and mixes simple harmonies with digital sounds.  Converge old school CSNY + POSTAL SERVICE and sounds a bit like MOTM.  Get pumped!

AlunaGeorge

Hey there everyone, after a short hiatus, I am back in the fold ready to (hopefully) bring some new and inspiring music to the forefront for ears to enjoy. First up is AlunaGeorge, a duo hailing from the UK, debuts with a pretty stellar single EP. “You Know You Like It” fuses a nice blend of indie experimentation and the glitchy stuttering beats of R&B. Aluna Francis provides the vocals while George Reid provides the glossy production. The result is a pop song that should brighten up a winter’s day. After all, you know you like it!

TREZA - noiZy Zion

Treza's raw and textural sound reminds me of a downtempo Moby. He proves that there's no need for clean and crisp recordings all the time. "Noizy Zion" is a sampling of groovy, passionate blues that create a spiritually-driven journey to zion. The track is heartfelt with its conglomeration of soulful voices, bird tweets and lovely piano riffs.  Check out the Paris-based musician on soundcloud.  I dig albout every song he's got on there. The sky is the limit for Treza.  SUBMITTED TRACK

Lament for Morning

Sacramento-based producer Raleigh Moncrief  reminds me of Ratatat, but  slightly more experimental and bubbly. Now part of Anticon, he's collaborating with indie artists like Baths and progressing his sound. Both this track and its video are complex pieces packed full of abstract arrangements. Songs on his newest album, Watered Down are what I call computeristic and beautifully haunting.

Mux Mool - Palace Chalice

Despite being accused as anti-human, repetitive, soulless, whatever, electronic music attracts the more devoted of idealists—the vinyl purist, the underground hero, the anonymous producer, etc. For Mux Mool, known to the government as Brian Lindgren, all his music connects to a certain outlook on life—basically, that the pre-established trajectory for adult life is being completely reimagined. He explains the concept behind his new album, Planet High School, this way: “Today, young Americans have very little to look forward to except endless war, endless debt, no Social Security, and [the fact that] none of us can live without the constant fear of poverty. We don’t need to have big houses and cars and a nest egg to get along. There’s nothing that says you can’t rent an apartment your whole life and not be happy.”

Leadsmen

Beats Broke's latest signing, Leadsmen, are a Dutch electronic duo who create dark, pulsating soundscapes layered with bubbling synths and pounding percussion. November 1, 2011 marks their official debut with the first of two EPs, Words Unspoken EP, leading into their 2012 full-length. The initial release contains one album single, two b-sides, and three title track remixes by Robot Koch (DE), The Octopus Project (US), and Beats Broke label-mate Arts The Beatdoctor (NL). The entire project is mastered by Shawn Hatfield at Audible Oddities (Amon Tobin, Eskmo). Learn more on the duo here.

Juno Akasawa

Juno Akasawa is from Paris, France. He creates some pretty interesting soundscapes. Prophet Noise is deeply funktified and dripping in crunchy synths. You can check some pretty ill remixes and other originals over at his SoundCloud. (Image via But Does It Float)

Jhene Aiko

This is my jam right now. I love everything about it; Jhene's smoothly toned vocals, the hook and the prodcution as a whole. This track is off of Jhene's Sailing Soul(s) Mixtape and it's well worth a grab. The whole album is damn good. Can't wait to hear what a proper studio LP might sound like if the mixtape is this ill.

Active Child x How To Dress Well

I'm a big fan of Active Child's Pat Grossi and of How To Dress Well's Tom Krell, so imagine the joy I was filled with when I came across "Playing House" one of the two singles from Pat's Active Child debut L.P. You Are All I See. Spacey R&B with a hint of pop and a lot of soul. I can't what for this project to grace us. You Are All I See drops on August 23 via Vagrant Records.
