A wonderfully wonky, spaced out gem that will have you breaking your mothertrucking neck before relaxing you out. Word to that Smoooth Music. The glitchy nature some of the tracks have while simultaneously maintaining an undeniable melody are what keeps this joint on steady rotation.

Johannesburg's Spoek Mathambo has such a crazy sound, kinda unlike anything else if you asked me. They just signed to Sub Pop, so I think we can expect to hear a lot more from them. They just put out a little EP titled Put Some Red On It, it has a couple new tracks and some remixes. The Machinedrum remix is pretty damn fly.

RJD2, welcome back! We've missed you while you were on a short hiatus. Aaron Livingston...I honestly didn't know you had this kind of music in you. Not a diss, just the truth. The two have teamed up for an album under the name Icebird that will be titled The Abandoned Lullaby. It drops on October 11th via RJD2's Electrical Connections imprint and I'm genuinely excited after hearing this track. Peace to my dude Tunji that played this on his Rhythm Lab Radio show where I first heard it! He puts shows like this together every week.

Zebrahim came about when Vancouver musician Ebrahim teamed with Häzel to release a joint effort to raise money for cancer research. The joints on this effort are heavily sampled neo soul beats with a bit of electro thrown in. My favorite of the release is Zilch, which pays homage to Dilla and the Pharcyde as well as Wu-Tang. Keep an ear out for the references. So why not link over to their bandcamp page and download the entire album. They reached their goal already by the way and now the album is free!
