CREEP Remix - Animals

Modern Machines releases a house remix of  CREEP’s latest single “Animals”. Give it about 20 seconds for it to get started.  This upbeat mix is good, it’s FREE, but the original is very impressive. To hear CREEP's version, check out the beautiful video directed by Greko Sklavounos on Channel Y

Nothing makes me happier then to hear two girls producing trip hop mixtures and stunning videos. Reigning from Brooklyn, DJ/Producers Lauren Dillard and Lauren Flax are CREEP; a vicious duo creating some sinister tracks. Dillard mentions she’s intrigued with the paranormal while Flax is supposedly in-tune with such activity. Their attraction to other worlds is exposed in their work, which helps them stand apart from the more angelic ladies out there.

Little Dragon Remix

Little Dragon Cuts The Internet's 'Cocaine'

Review from soulbounce.com

When I wrote about The Internet's video for "Cocaine," it got quite a few responses, ranging from outrage to reverence. Even if The Internet lost some fans over it, they still have four very important allies in Little Dragon. Perhaps returning the love for Syd Tha Kid's awesome remix of "Seconds" over the summer, LD has put their own spin on Syd and Matt Martians' controversial little ditty. Replacing its smoothed-out R&B thump with a kinetic New Wave-y dance groove, they dress the song up for a night out at the clubs. Some elements definitely work here (Syd's vocal over the spacy production feels just at home here as on the original) and some kind of fall flat (the rap feels out of sync and out of place), but overall it's a pretty solid effort from the Swedes we love so much. There are a little less than three weeks left until The Internet's Purple Naked Ladies is released digitally on December 20th (and a little more than six weeks for those who want the physical copy in their hands on January 17th), but this is a nice little appetizer before the album's main course.

Nightshift (Microburst Remix)

I heard this off xlr8r.com and agree with their post. This UK producer does a great job at mixing the Talk in Colour track by creating deep layers of unique and ambient sounds. Mircroburst's mixture reminds me of Fourtet with a wide range of vocals.

Arab Dougie Diamond (Bikini x Busta Rhymes x Lil Wil)

I am a huge fan of the blog Black Glove, I had to share it with you. They are sick mash-up crew, with a ton of fresh content. They have a unique ear, picking the perfect tracks mix up. They have a ton of tracks, as well as mixtapes for free download. This track is from the mixtape titled #4.

It occured to me that we've come to a middle portion of the year and as I continue to encounter, fall in love with, and overplay pieces of music, I should share them with more people. Phoenix Vs. Lil Wayne

Strangely, Liking, This. Not sure who put this together and I'm generally not a big fan of mashups, but I like Pheonix and Lil Wayne. Enjoy.

HEFTY

Hefty Records was started in 1995 as a home for label owner John Hughes' own musical output. Acting on a desire to finally release the music he had been recording, paired with a healthy mistrust of another label being the one to do it, he founded his own label at age 19.  Hughes wanted to see his music through to completion, from songwriting to production to a final product that he could promote. Once the label had established itself with distribution and some initial press attention, Hughes invited other artists into the mix. The sound was prefaced by an ingrained Chicago aesthetic; a get-down-to-business mentality and a melting-pot of musical genres. Over the past 15 years, Hefty's catalog has found its identity through a strange balance of electronic and organic sounds with carefully crafted production that will sound infinitely great. From classics like Savath + Savalas, Telefon Tel Aviv, and Phil Ranelin to the more recent releases like Plus Device, radicalfashion, and Brood, the Hefty catalog presents a vast musical landscape that all somehow fits under the same umbrella.

I've been digging through my archives and this is HANDS DOWN one of the best mixes I've been fortunate enough to get my hands on. It's a HEFTY mix done by the talented Edit. If you haven't heard Edit's work - you gotta learn and hear more on him. I'll do a follow up shortly on the talented producer.

Underground Gems

This is essentially yanked from Brian's blog. As some of you may or may not know. Brian has been doing a series of mixes - monthly mixes that are by and large . . . large. This Underground Gems is a banger. It came on suddenly, and my ears gave me a warm, fuzzy hug in thanks. My head nodded in unison as well. The mix is done  by Stephen Kelleher. Be sure to visit his site for some beautiful work.

"This month is going to be a bit of a catch up month for last year’s guest mixers. First up for the year is my good bud and superstar Stephen Kelleher. Stephen, aka Frankenstyles, is one of my favorite designer/illustrators out there. Kid has sick skills. We teamed up a few years back for a PSST! Pass it On and had a blast. This Underground Gems mix is like finding an old mixtape from 10 years back packed to the gills with the illest hip hop joints. I am sure this one will bring back fond memories for everyone. Enjoy!"
