Rochelle Jordan

We've seen Rochelle's name thrown around a bit and finally decided to check out her latest FREE album enitiled ROJO. One track that just leapt out was this cover / collaboration of Sleep by Thom Yorke. The way she's harmonizing on this track and sings over the original is just splendid. We strongly, strongly recommend you check out Rochelle, and support this young songstress.

Eligh - Whirlwind (Ft. Pigeon John)

Best know for his work with super group Living Legends, the MC Eligh could still be conisdered underground. I think he should be crashing the pop charts and tearing them down the ground. His flow is brutal, and he could hold is own with any MC on the top ten. His lastest effort Grey Crow is a solid album. Highly recomened.

Cults - Go Outside (2 Bears Remix)

Cults first full length finally dropped this last Tuesday. Do yourselves a favor and go cop it. I have been following them for a minute since I stumbled upon their bandcamp page last year.. They are a NYC duo, via San Diego, who have pretty much blown up in a short period of time due to massive blog coverage spanning from small blogs, to sites like gorillavsbear, to Urban Outfitters. And the notoriety is well deserved as they have really found a nice niche sound that mixes a bit of vintage soul with contemporary indie pop. It’s pretty much perfect for the summer, including this amazing remix.

Isolée - Brazil

I know little about this gem other than it is taken from the Brazil EP, but I really need to know is that Isolée is the producer. His unique style laces this unusual track that is undeniably him. The track is more cinematic the the usual dance tracks he is know for.

Tokimonsta Creature Dreams EP

Jennifer Lee aka TOKiMONSTA has been on our radar for sometime. We got a hold of her latest E.P. - Creature Dreams and immediately noticed a slight shift in this talented beatsmiths repertoire. It seems as though there is a bit more focus in vocals and arrangement. This feels like some of her most sophisticated music to date. TOKi is on the amazing Brainfeeder label.

Low - Witches

Low has been around what seems forever, and they still are dropping gorgeous records. They have lost a little bit of the slow expermental edge, instead they seem really focused on just writing good songs. I have to say I really enjoyed this new record C'mon, it fit nicley as the backdrop to any relaxing evening. The song Witches has been on heavy rotation.

Tyson - Out of My Mind (Star Slinger Remix)

Tyson, an up and comer producer from the UK, recently dropped this awesome dance track “Out of My Mind.” What is even more awesome is that YYY fav Star Slinger did a remix that will sho nuff get you dancing in no time. Star Slinger can do no wrong in my book. The single also boasts a remix by The Swiss. I’d love to see Kirstie Alley dance to this jam and try to stay on her feet!

Seekae - Void

Coming from Australia is the three piece Seekae. The song Void is off of The Sound of Trees Falling On People, which got put out in 2008! It doesn't matter, it's still a beautiful song. It's a very emotional and kinda just sticks to you. It's the kind of track that makes you want to run, or drive fast with the all windows down. I think I could get nostalgic for this track in a few years time, thinking back to the day when I rocked it. They have a new record that just came out. I am still working on digesting it, but it's called +Dome.

There is a good interview here with the band.

Talib Kweli

Lyricism is getting harder to come by in Hip-Hop. Emcees  who have the ability to make strong connections with their audience while being lyrical and creative with their delivery are even harder to find. Talib Kweli has always been good at both. His new album Gutter Rainbows dropped earlier today and no where was Talib's ability more apparent than on "So Low.

Quaotable "I always speak for the struggle / my people still hurtin'/ and I'm a name brand and a product but still a real person / I'm still flirting with death / although I'm still certain about my commitment to / life although I'm still searching"

"You can cop a digital copy of Gutter Rainbows here or if you're like me and want that limited edition multi colored swirl vinyl or either a physical copy of the CD you can pre-order it from FatBeats

Dan the Man

Off his solo album—the less be-speckled member of the Black Keys—Dan Auerbach, takes us back to a simpler time with a bluesier sound. While the drum beats lack, I still find it comforting that he said "F*ck the Man!" and went back to his mud soaked roots. This song makes me feel dirty and I like it.
